Mr. Do Xuan Bien holds a Bachelor Degree, majoring in Geography, from Vietnam National University. He obtained a Master of Environment from the University of Melbourne, with the research focused on climate change policy.He then joined the Phoenix Leader Education Program for Renaissance from Radiation Disaster, Hiroshima University and obtain his PhD in human geography. His PhD research elaborates the migration patterns of evacuees from the Fukushima disaster affected areas, in particular, spatial-temporal patterns, factors influencing evacuees’ decision of evacuation destination as well as their decision to return.
Mr. Bien began his career in Enda Vietnam, an NGO working in the field of development and environmental protection as a social worker and environmental communication group member. He has participated in several community development projects and contributed to the development of environmental communication activities at community level. Five year-working experience in this international NGO helped Mr. Bien to earn practical knowledge and skills in developing and implementing projects in the fields of environmental education and community development. Subsequently, he worked for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University as a researcher and lecturer where he has developed his expertise in environmental education and climate change policy, and disaster management through teaching and research activities. With his rich experience in studying and working in international environment, Mr. Bien was assigned the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Geography, in charge of research and international cooperation. Mr. Bien joined Hong Bang International Univeristy and served as the Head of the Department of International Relations and also the Vice Dean of the School of Social Sciences and International Languages. Since the establishment of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in April 2021, he has been assigned the Dean of the faculty.
Mr. Do Xuan Bien has shown his excellent research ability. He has participated in 5 different research projects funded by Vietnam National University and Hong Bang International University as the project leader as well as a project member. Currently, he is a key member of an international research project jointly implemented with Japanese professors from Kobe University and Okayama University. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Climate Research – an international journal accredited by Korean Citation Index. Mr. Bien has published 5 articles in high impact international journals and presented his research outcomes in many international conferences. His current research interest focuses on international labor migration, climate change impacts and adaptation, and disaster recovery.
