With the goal of finding breakthrough solutions in education, Hong Bang International University (HIU) has collaborated with Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU, Philippines) to successfully organize the International Conference on Education – iconED 2025, which took place on September 13, 2025, at RISE Tower.  Valenzuela campus, Philippines.

The event brought together leading leaders, experts and scholars from many countries such as Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam, to exchange directions for education development in the context of globalization.

Transformational Leadership – The Key to Sustainable Education

With the theme “Transformative Leadership for the Sustainable Development of Quality Education”,  the conference focused on discussing the role of the Transformative Leadership model in improving the quality and ensuring the sustainable development of the education system in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the development of the Transformative Leadership model. the strong development of artificial intelligence (AI). International speakers shared experiences and effective leadership models, towards creating a quality, sustainable and integrated educational environment.

HIU’s outstanding contribution: 5-pillar governance model in the 4.0 era

As a co-organizer, HIU presented the paper “University Governance in the 4.0 Era” by Dr. Tran Vinh – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics – Management presented.

The paper introduces the modern management model built on 5 strategic pillars:

1. Lecturers: Not only impart knowledge but also researchers and academic advisors.
2. Curriculum: Continuous innovation to keep up with global trends.
3. Learner Care: Personalize the learning experience.
4. Infrastructure: Developing the “Smart University” model.
5. Strategic cooperation: Expand international networks to improve the quality of training and research.

These orientations clearly demonstrate HIU’s comprehensive development strategy, both improving academic quality and promoting international integration.

HIU signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU)

Following the success of the iconED 2025 Conference, on September 15, 2025, Hong Bang International University (HIU) and Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), opening a new stage of strategic cooperation between the two universities.

Representatives of HIU attending the signing ceremony include:

• ASS. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy – Vice Rector,
• Lecturer Nguyen Thi Huong – Acting Dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Engineering,
• Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Van – International Cooperation Training Institute.

On the side of OLFU, there was the presence of Dr. Caroline Marian S. Enriquez – Rector; and leaders of the Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Marketing departments of the university.

According to the MOU, the two universities will implement many key cooperation activities: exchange of lecturers and students; organizing joint scientific conferences; cooperation in scientific research; especially creating conditions for final year students of HIU’s Rehabilitation Engineering – Physical Therapy major to participate in internships at Fatima Hospital – a prestigious practice facility under OLFU. In addition, OLFU will also attend the International Conference hosted by HIU in December 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City. HCM.

Practical experience and sustainable development orientation

Within the framework of the business trip, the HIU delegation visited key departments of OLFU such as the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Physical Therapy, and laboratories applying artificial intelligence (AI) in first aid.

These practical experiences bring many valuable suggestions for HIU in developing training programs, applying technology to teaching and promoting academic cooperation in the future.

Affirming HIU’s international integration strategy

The signing event of cooperation with OLFU right after the iconED 2025 Conference once again affirms HIU’s methodical international integration strategy, and at the same time shows a strong commitment to building an international learning and research environment.

HIU continues to aim for sustainable development, nurturing a generation of global citizens who have professional capacity, critical thinking and professional ethics, ready to adapt and lead in the new era.

Throughout the event, the speakers shared a wealth of practical experiences, up-to-date information, and insightful perspectives on the New Zealand labor market — especially the opportunities available to Vietnamese students after graduation. They also enthusiastically answered students’ questions on topics such as:

• How to build a suitable career path while studying in Vietnam
• Tips to quickly adapt to life and culture in New Zealand
• How to avoid culture shock and overcome common challenges in an international working environment

The seminar reached its most engaging and dynamic point during the Q&A session. Students, particularly those from the Faculty of Languages and Business Administration, actively asked questions about:

• Job prospects before and after graduation
• Fields with labor shortages in New Zealand
• Steps to prepare job applications and legal residency documents

The speakers’ enthusiasm and sincerity, along with the students’ eager participation, made the seminar a meaningful and inspiring experience — opening up new international career possibilities for HIU students.

Although the event has concluded, it has become a valuable source of motivation and guidance, helping students feel more confident in their journey to reach out to the world and pursue their dreams in a global work environment.

Strategic Cooperation Opportunities Between HIU and Prestigious U.S. Universities

In his opening remarks, Mr. Justin Walls – representative of the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City – affirmed: “This is a journey of sustainable development. Today, we continue to write the next chapter of that journey by building deep academic relationships between our two countries.” He also expressed his pride in accompanying and supporting HIU in initiatives that promote educational cooperation, a strategically important activity in the new phase of the Vietnam-U.S. bilateral relationship.

On behalf of Ms. Sammer Saleh Jones – Head of the IIE delegation, Director of Global Relations at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign – she emphasized that the purpose of the visit was not only to meet but also to share, listen, and jointly create new educational values in the context of globalization: “We have prepared very carefully for this trip. This is not simply a working session, but a valuable opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate with Vietnamese partners in long-term, sustainable collaborations.”

The U.S. delegation also expressed their desire to share some cooperation opportunities they had prepared after learning about HIU beforehand.

HIU – A Potential Partner in the Vietnam-U.S. Education Strategy

As a young, dynamic, and modern private university, HIU currently offers nearly 50 undergraduate programs with 15,000 students and 25 postgraduate and continuing education programs with 3,000 learners.

With a modern infrastructure system, internationally standardized training programs, and a clear research-practice orientation, Hong Bang International University is being assessed as one of the institutions with the potential for extensive cooperation with U.S. universities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Khac Cuong – Vice-Rector of HIU emphasized: “We are committed to building practical and long-term cooperation models with U.S. universities, especially in high-quality human resource training and applied research. This is a strategic step for HIU to integrate more deeply into the global academic network.”

The U.S. delegation expressed their desire to hear from HIU, share practical experiences, and jointly develop practical cooperation programs that create long-term value for faculty, students, and the academic communities of both nations.

Strategic Cooperation Directions Proposed Between HIU and U.S. Universities Include:

• Bilateral Joint Training: Developing articulation models such as 4+2 (Doctor of Medicine), 4+1 (Pharmacist), and 3+1 (Nursing), helping HIU students access international degrees and expand global learning opportunities.
• Academic and Student Exchange: Strengthening the exchange of faculty and students, organizing international conferences and seminars.
• Medical Technology Research: Collaborating on joint research projects in health and the development of new medical technologies.
• Community Activities: Participating in grassroots health projects, supporting disadvantaged people, and providing disease prevention education; supporting startup projects for students.
• High-Quality Human Resource Training Cooperation: Collaborating with U.S. corporations to develop training programs suitable for the needs of the international labor market.

In addition, Dr. Vu Thi Phuong Anh – Director of the Institute of Training and International Cooperation – expressed her hope that welcoming American students to study and experience Vietnam will contribute to promoting cultural exchange, sharing skills, and forming a generation of global citizens. “I believe that today’s connection is not accidental but a predestined relationship. This is a journey of intergenerational connection; the young people of today will go out into the world, and one day they will return to continue the mission of connecting for the next generation.”

On this occasion, the U.S. delegation also spent time exploring HIU’s training facilities, mainly the modern practice rooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The delegation was particularly impressed when visiting the Sulyna Hotel within HIU, which is also the practice area for students in Hospitality Management; Tourism and Travel Services Management under the Faculty of Economics – Management. The guests clearly felt the professionalism and creativity in HIU’s training methods and were very interested in the cakes and drinks made by the faculty and students themselves.

The program was organized with the aim of strengthening the friendship and cooperation between students of the two countries through environmental protection activities.

Through the program, the students had the opportunity to experience meaningful activities, foster friendships, and create beautiful memories together.

During the farewell party, representatives of the school’s management board and teachers from both sides expressed their appreciation and encouragement to the students who participated in the program. The students also received souvenirs as a token of gratitude for their contributions. At the end of the program, Vietnamese and Japanese students became close friends, together fostering friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

We believe that this will be a solid foundation for students in the field of international cultural exchange and hope that there will be more meaningful programs like this organized in the future.

On August 21, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan – Vice President of HIU, visited Can Gio island to meet with Professor Asano Tetsumi – Nam Du Association (in charge of the Vietnam program) and Mr. Ishihara Shuichi – Deputy Chairman, Teacher of Komaba Toho Junior & Senior High School.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss future cooperation projects between HIU and Japanese partners.

Despite the scorching summer sun, Japanese students and students from the Japanese Language major at HIU, and other volunteers worked together to plant young trees with the common desire to protect the environment of Vietnam.
