On March 27th, 2023, Hong Bang International University (HIU) organized a public lecture entitled “A Dynamic Asia in the Changing World," with the participation of a prominent speaker Dr. Ram Madhave Varanasi – Former National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party. Besides, there is the presence of the following consular representatives in Ho Chi Minh City of the following countries: India, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs.

The seminar is not only an opportunity for professors, lecturers, and HIU students, especially those who currently major in International Relations, will have a chance to meet and discuss with international statesmen the issues among Asian nations. It is also an occasion to enhance some international activities from HIU.

In the opening remark of the seminar, Vice Chancellor – MA Nguyen Ngoc Tuan shared that this public lecture is a seminar to let scholars and students openly discuss ongoing problems, thereby proposing solutions to promote international relationships and enhance awareness among nations to build a dynamic and developed Asia. Additionally, MA Nguyen Ngoc Tuan added, “At HIU, we regularly organize seminars with famous scholars that provide opportunities for professors, lecturers, and students to have a quality environment and aim at international integration.”

Following the speech of Dr. Ram shared, “India established its relations with Vietnam in 1972, and last year, it marked the 50th anniversary. This bilateral relationship is one of long-lasting relations that India developed, and of course, the deserts of this belong to the Vietnamese leadership. In the 21st century the world order needs to negotiate with the substantive imprint of Asian civilization, whose leading role belongs to long-standing countries like India and Vietnam.”

The public lecture organized in enthusiastic atmosphere when HIU students of International Relations confidently asked questions about diplomatic relations between India and China as well as India’s role in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Sharing on the issue, Dr. Ram Madhav Varanasi said that as India plays a vital role in the economic and political market among Asian countries, the wars in Ukraine and Russia also significantly impact on the relevant countries. However, war is an issue that India has never supported, and the leader will have a policy to balance Russia and Ukraine. A country that adheres to discipline, its people are educated, and the cohesion among nations carries the ideology of wanting to redeem world peace.

MA. Phan Do Thuy Dung, Lecturer at HIU shared her opinion while attending the public lecture, “I am very impressed with Dr. Ram’s quote: One formula for the Asia’s success today – it is a law-abiding global protocols, the role of education and the love of peace of nations in the world. The meeting with international politicians will be a valuable opportunity for lecturers and students to acquire new knowledge of the world, especially the politics-diplomacy and the relationships between the two countries. countries."

With the goal of internationalizing the learning environment, the school regularly organizes international scientific conferences, seminars with famous scholars to meet and discuss with lecturers – school students about social issues, especially during the globalization era. International Relations is a field of study that focuses on the interaction among nations as well as between nations and non-governmental organizations in such aspects as politics, culture, economy and security. What can you do with an IR degree?

IR has entered the spotlight of Vietnam’s job market since the country started to implement its open-door policy for robust cooperation and multi-faceted exchange with other nations in the world. Therefore, several Vietnamese youngsters have been familiar with the major. While IR may sound appealing by its name, it can be very challenging to students who are concerned about the job opportunities they may have upon graduation. On 17^th July 2020,  IR’s film group namely “IR Squad”, which comprises of students from K17 and K18 cohorts, was honoured at the Rewarding Ceremony of the First Film Festival of Hong Bang International University. The production is called “Choose IR – Fly high” where the team shows an unique approach to portray the International Relations essence. Surpassing more than 20 other films, IR’s film won 2 trophies home:

– The Best Script-writing

– The Third Prize for Overall Performance

Told with pride, this achievement is a group effort coming from students and lecturers of International Relations who altogether that nothing is impossible. The combination of full commitment by the students and speedy planning and orientation by the lecturers throughout the process has proven effective. With only one week, the production team was able to craft initial ideas and put them in action using simple techs like smartphones and taking advantage of the university’s outstanding infrastructure. Eventually, “IR Squad” showcased a fantastic result that convinces the judging panel in both task requirements and entertaining values. The team was able to deliver a signature production of IR-ers’ creativity and solidarity, and more importantly shared memory.

The contest has two forms of competition: team contest and individual competition. Each team has to take part in two compulsory exams prescribed by the Organizing Committee and one part is selected by the contest team. Each individual contestant participates in the compulsory exam prescribed by the Organizing Committee and one part by the lecturers.

The team contest includes: (1) Pedagogical knowledge; (2) Handling pedagogical situations; (3) Choose a content by yourself: Greeting or Talent. The individual contest includes: (1) Argument; (2) Choose a content by yourself: Talent or Counseling, guiding students to study, practice or Design educational activities.

Regarding the team, in the greeting section to introduce the unit, with a duration of nearly 06 minutes, the team of HIU won the first team prize. In the section of Pedagogical knowledge and situation handling, the team won the second and the third prizes.

About the individual exams, among 166 lecturers, 4 lecturers of HIU excellently won:

M.A Tran Tuan Dat won the first prize of speech contest and talent contest.

M.A Huynh Vu Thach won the second prize of speech contest and talent contest.

M.A Phan Le Thu Huong won the third prize of speech contest and talent contest.

M.A Le Ngoc Thao Nguyen won the third prize of speech contest and Design educational activities contest.

The contest ended, with pedagogical ability, talent and solidarity, passion for job, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hong Bang International University excellently won the second prize of the whole group – the block of non-training teachers.
