With 33 years in dentistry, Assc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong, Head of Faculty of Odonto Stomatology, Hong Bang International University (HIU) has done many works at the same time. To list some, teaching and guiding students to make scienctific research integrate with regional countries and around the world, spending time with head and neck cancer patients.
Her life devoted to being medical doctor, teaching, and research
Teaching, doing research, and guiding scientific research, mostly on head and neck cancer, that is her life. More than 15 years organizing examinations, consultations and completely free tooth extractions for head and neck cancer patients before ra diation treatments at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong and her colleagues have shared the burden of treatment costs for cancer patients, shared the responsibility of a dentist doctor who accompanies cancer doctors in the fight against cancer.
She says, “What makes me most proud is all of my students. They have become Odonto Stomatology doctors to help people and patients, contribute to the development of the sector and society. At one point, I was successful in managing a dental clinic chain. However, I still decided to continue to devote to the training of many Odonto Stomatology doctors, which will spread love, care for the patients, contribute to the society and the country. “

Hong Bang International University, a place to realize the dream of bringing students to the world
During her 33 years serving the sector, Assoc. Prof. Hong has successfully guided many doctoral theses, level-2 doctors, resident doctors, and masters, contributing to the training of highly qualified human resources for Odonto Stomatology. Among them, many have beome leaders of hospitals in provinces and cities. Among the topics she has instructed, many have won the first and second prizes at the Youth Science – Technology Conference at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City and nationwide universities and colleges of medicine and pharmacy in Vietnam.
After she was 55 years old, completing her citizenship duty, she can continue working at the university. However, her concern is Vietnamese dentists are still not on par with those in regional countries. The professor says, “The international vision, mission, educational philosophy and strong capacity of a non-public school have given me confidence in working at Hong Bang International University. HIU President Associate Professor. Ho Thanh Phong’s prestige and talent helped me firmly step on the “Ship of Knowledge", aka HIU, and accompany with my lecturers, contributing to the training of the younger generation of Odonto Stomatology doctors who have a bright mind, strong expertise, and integrate with other countries in the region and the worldwide.”
She had spent lots of her time with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City, and HCM City Cancer Hospital. HCMC. Now, she continues at Hong Bang International University. With full happiness, fulfilling her life’s dream of being both a medical doctor and teacher, she continues her dedicate, to sacrifice for her students and patients.
