Vaccines are one of the greatest advances in modern medicine. The vaccine has helped reduce the incidence of the disease and child mortality in half, saving millions of lives.

On the occasion of World Immunization Week 2021, Dong Nai Television Station conducted a live broadcast of “The role of vaccines in disease prevention" to provide scientific information to the community, contributing to the prevention of epidemics in general and especially the COVID-19 pandemic that is raging globally today.

The guest of the show is PhD Dr. Huynh Tan Tien – Lecturer of The Medical Faculty, Hong Bang International University, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Public Health Association, has exchanged and answered questions about professional knowledge on this topic.

COVID-19, acute respiratory infection caused by a new strain of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China in December 2019. Since then, the outbreak has spread to 31 provinces and cities of China and outside China at a very fast and high rate of spread.

Globally, as of May 20, 2021, there were 164,523,894 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,412,032 deaths. As of May 18, 2021, a total of 1,407,945,776 doses of the vaccine have been given.
