WORKSHOP ON SARS-CoV-2

SARS-CoV-2 or coronavirus is the virus that caused the global pandemic COVID-19 which has been wreaking havoc worldwide, killing lots of people. In Vietnam, series of efforts have been made towards the goal of timely putting it under control.

The dissemination of basic knowledge as well as updating new information about the virus is very necessary, especially for health workers.

Medical Laboratory is one of the important steps in the process of virus dectecting, contributing to early detection of potentially infectious objects in the community and timely localization.

With the aim of systematizing the basic knowledge and updating new information on the pandemic, the Faculty of Medical Laboratory held a SARS-CoV-2 workshop on December 26, 2020 with the participation of lecturers and students of health science, Hong Bang International University.

The workshop speaker was Assoc.Prof.Dr. Truong Thi Xuan Lien – molecular biology lecturer in the faculty. With a lively and interesting approach, she brought basic and in-depth knowledge on coronavirus structure and transmission.

Associate Professor, Dr. Xuan Lien has systematized useful knowledge for lecturers and students, especially information about new varians of coronavirus recently discovered in European and African countries. It was also information that health workers in general and teaching staff and students in health science in particular need to pay attention to working with the community to curb the pandemic epidemics more effectively.

At the end of the seminar, lecturers and students raised many questions regarding diagnostic measures, pandemic prevention as well as how to distinguish reinfection and reactivation of the virus in order to more effectively advise communities.
